I currently serve on the following committees or working groups, usually as a result of my interest in emergency communications.

• I am Team Leader for the National RAYNET Technical Team
• I am a member of the National RAYNET Emergency Planning Team
• I am a member of the Radio Society of Great Britain's '5 MHz Working Group' which is co-ordinating what has become known as the 'fivemegs experiment' where Radio Amateurs have been granted controlled access to certain MoD frequencies in the 5 MHz band for propagation study and emergency communications purposes.
• I am webmaster for the RAYNET HF Team .
• I am secretary to the Cheshire County RAYNET Group
• I am Group Controller of West Cheshire RAYNET Group

While it may look diverse there are a number of similarities in approach across the different teams, to help me keep track of the current 'Jobs to Do' I have created this WIKI page .

The diversity though can be a handicap with a number of abbreviations and acronyms to deal with. Since I rarely get to sort all of them out at once, I have started my own Glossary which gets populated with those terms causing me most problems at the moment.

• The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers ( IEEE ) as such I am also a member of;

  • The IEEE Communications Society
  • The IEEE Power Engineering Society
  • The IEEE Standards Association

My work is predominantly Power Engineering and reference to up to date codes and standards is vital. I keep links to the relevant on-line resources on my StandardsPage

Sometimes you need 'old style' graph paper, it isn't as available in the shops anymore but here is a good site to make your own in PDF format
